The Perfect Pie Crust


Cooking Directions

  1. Butter a 9-inch pie pan and set aside
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the shortening and butter, and blend using a fork or pastry cutter until it resembles a course meal
  3. Gradually add ice water, while mixing, until the dough forms a ball
  4. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface, sprinkle flour onto top of ball and onto rolling pin
  5. Rolling from the center out, roll until the dough is about 1/8 of an inch thick
  6. Carefully place the dough into the buttered pan, and lightly press dough into sides and bottom
  7. Pinch the sides of the crust and lightly prick the bottom of the dough with a fork
  8. Cover with plastic wrap and place in freezer for at least 30 minutes
